Fly into Marsh Harbour
The Abaco chain of islands is approximately 1 hour by air from Flordia, and a 35-minute flight from Nassau (NAS). The main airport is The Leonard Thompson International Airport in Marsh Harbour (MHH). International direct flights to Marsh Harbour are available from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, New Symerna Beach, Orlando, Charlotte, and Atlanta. Domestic direct flights are available from Nassau and Freeport, Bahamas. If you are flying from Europe or Canada, or other areas of the USA, it may be convenient to connect through Nassau (NAS).
Catch the Ferry to Hope Town
After you arrive at the Marsh Harbour International Airport (MHH), a short taxi ride will bring you directly to The Crossings Ferry Dock where you can catch a ferry to Hope Town, approximately every hour, during the day. After hours, you may charter a private ferry.
Pilot and Private Plane Information
If you are a pilot and are planning a trip to Abaco, you will need to land in Marsh Harbour (MHH) or in Treasure Cay to clear Bahamas Customs and Immigration.
Marsh Harbour (population 6000) is the commercial center of the Abacos and the majority of services can be found here: large grocery stores, lumber yards, hardware, travel agencies, government offices, taxi services, a hospital, shipping companies, major banks, restaurants and resorts. Full-service marinas, boatyards, boat storage facilities, and charter companies offering live-aboard sailboats and powerboats operate here.
